Sorry for disturbing, but here's a personal story
Hey,
I will continue the Austin Kleon ebook summaries again, tomorrow onwards.
For now, here's something I want to share.
I came across the term Stoic and Stoicism 2 years ago. A friend mentioned that I'm a stoic.
So, I checked upon articles, books… and anything that talked about stoicism.
And I realised, "Yes, I'm a stoic."
But what does being a stoic mean?
Well, I don't know the definition.
For me, it's being unaffected by anything. It's being the same whether going through good or bad. It's being indifferent to pleasure or pain.
No, it doesn't mean being emotionless.
I have plenty of emotions. I feel happy, I feel sad, I get angry… But one chocolate later, things are back to normal; as if nothing happened. At times, it takes more than a chocolate; like a coffee, a pizza or a 2-hour sleep. But I am reset soon.
Now, I've no idea how I became a stoic, but I wanted to know more about it. I couldn't find much of interest though. Might be because philosophy (or "self help") seems an uninteresting topic.
However, last week, I came across the book: The Daily Stoic. It consists of 366 lessons: 1-2 pages each, about stoicism.
Haven't read it completely. But if you want to learn what being a stoic is, do give it a read. One lesson a day, and you might turn into a stoic, a year later. 🤞🏻
