Kids on the slides - Creative Confidence #10
Ever sat at a playground watching a kid go down the slide for the very first time?
At first, they may need lots of support and encouragement just to get on the stairs. Some climb halfway up, get scared, and climb back down.
Finally, after watching other kids go down the slide, crying wheeeee… they make it all the way to the top and push for the first time.
Their fear is replaced by exhilaration, by joy. They're on the ground again, with a huge smile on their face, ready to run back to the ladder and do it all over again.
Same is the case with managers, CEOs and students after they've gone through their first design cycle, emerging safely on the other side with a breakthrough idea.
Lesson:
Creativity depends on what you believe you can do with the talents and skills you already have.
