I don't want to grow...
Heyaa,
When I was your latest burnout? Mental breakdown?
Too afraid to stare at that big blank white document? Too stressed to connect the words? Too worn out to even make funny memes?
I had one kind of sort of last week. Can't connect it to one single reason though. But as I slowed down, took some load off the table (off the to-do?), I started looking for some freshness in my routine.
Took charge, and changed my environment. The laptop wallpaper. 😆
If you too want it, download it from Unsplash.
I started reading Anxious People, which I'd been thinking about for over a year. And here is my favourite line from it (for now):
"Anyone can nurture a myth about their life if they have enough manure, so if the grass looks greener on the other side of the fence, that's probably because it's full of shit."
Also got a kids' colouring book. Picked up crayons after so many years. It felt good.
So, I'm reading four books currently. Hoping to finish at least one this month. And I'm filling colouring books again. Don't know what and how I'll carry the rest of March.
But, let it be.
Onto today's newsletter...
It was another normal evening when I received an email. A forwarded one from a friend. It was a newsletter with the tech stack of someone handling his business alone. He doesn't have a team running at his command.
I, being someone who's bad with hoomans, worse at managing them, felt connected and I want to talk about it today.
I might be a good team player, as long as the team vibes with me, but not someone who can play perfectly in sync.
I'm slow. I like to take rest... like 5 minutes of work and 20 minutes of break kind of rest.
Actually, I'm writing this newsletter as I wanted to not lose this idea, which I got while working on a client project.
So, yeah OK, onto handling business alone.
I always have had an aversion to building teams. I've delegated a few times, but I like the actual work more than playing a managerial role.
So, when I read that email, I exclaimed: This. Exactly. Is. Me.
The mail was a list of tools he used to be at par with day to day responsibilities.
I wanted to do something similar. And as I sat in silence. 153 feet away from the nearest hooman. with phone DND on. I realised I'm surrounded by tools and digital services too.
These are the few I currently recall:
Trello project management tool
Canva design tool
Grammarly grammar checker
Koofr cloud storage
Apollo.io email finder
NeuralText content toolbox
Carrd.co landing page builder
Bluehost hosting for my website
EmailOctopus for my newsletter
And this coffee shop background music too. For some reason, it works great.
Another tool I recently started using is Kittl (formerly Heritage Designer)
I made a T-shirt graphic with it two days ago.
Yes, the design is crap, sorry for ruining your day.
Free illustrations from undraw.co have also become my recent favourite.
OK, that was all from me today.
Take a break, sit in silence for 5 minutes, and tell me what all tech tools do you use.
And if this newsletter helped you today, you can buy me a coffee.
I'll see you with another irregular newsletter soon. 🐼
