Get into the "process", then raise the rates
Heyaa
It's been weeksss that I've felt productive, but the last few days seem fair enough.
My online store for printable wall art designs is live. You can follow @sloppydesigner on Instagram for updates.
Then, I consumed text, images, audio content as well as video content. And one video, by graphic designer Tom Satori, talked about how to increase your rates.
It's a PROCESS.
You can't just charge $100 just because you heard some "influencers" say they charge that.
The ideal process takes time. It involves marketing yourself, improving your skills and understanding your work.
For example, to begin with, you can join freelance platforms. They help you showcase your skills to prospective clients. They're ideally marketing you. However, the platforms can become saturated. And you'll need your own website and social media to market online.
Next, to improve skills, compare yourself to others. Check out the works of people you admire and deconstruct them. Then, critically analyse what you're missing and how you can improve.
Third... You can't just get into working, as you get the brief. You have to find the details, understand the needs and then start the actual work.
So, once you get into the process, investing time in your work and taking proper care of every tiny bit, you'll see yourself improving step by step. This improvement shows up in your marketing and you'll be able to charge more.
