Are you open?
Earlier this March, I said I’ll share the five cold emails I sent to prospects. (I sent the sixth one yesterday, but let’s leave it for some other day)
I got busy with work, so couldn’t share those emails.
Now, here’s the first. A casual one I sent to Swiggy food delivery.
Subject line:
Kept the subject line “Are you open?” in line with what you might ask at a new restaurant. It also sounds like a query/complaint email a (food)tech startup might receive.
Intro paragraphs:
The email was written haphazardly. I went straight to my ask instead of introducing myself. I did try to tell about myself, a little, in line with what their ideal employee might look like. I wish I “showed” it better.
Portfolio samples:
I was hoping to be on board as a social media copywriter and notification copywriter. I didn't have any samples, so I resorted to sweets tweets.
I didn’t explicitly mention what I wanted. Was just priming the “reader(s)” to think of a role for me in case they even check the links. I’m not that assertive you know.
Closing lines:
I closed the email asking if I should expect a written test. Just trying to help them (to make a move in my favour).
And that was the end.
---
I addressed this pitch to a generic email address. So, I doubt it was even opened.
Didn’t get any reply.
But it was the start of my new cold emailing adventure.
That’s all for today. Will send you another sample in another irregular newsletter, maybe next week. 🐼
