š¼ And guess what! I didnāt feel like writing back.
Duggal saab aaj teacher bane hain (a teacher today)
Heyaa
How does it feel to have five hands? Ever asked for it?
How about having five brains so that you can āallocateā each brain to a different task at once? Instead of one brain distracted by five.
Ahhh. Dreams! I so need five brains today.
While the world is preaching focus on one, Iām back to opening five docs at once and working on them simultaneously. Like my earlier days.
If I hadn't, the newsletter wouldnāt have been possible to write today.
Itās Monday, Dec 18. 19.20.
I could have written this newsletter yesterday if only I hadnāt wasted half my day working on one project. You know, 10 minutes working, 10 minutes Instagram/YouTube/looking for a better song/searching something entirely different.Ā
But now, with five projects open, I can switch between documents with each phase of my distraction.
That āstrikethrough Butā is intentional, by the way.
A client once mentioned I should avoid negative words in my content.
How? Wellā¦
Instead of āDon't hesitate to ask for help,ā you can writeā¦ Feel free to ask for help.
Instead of āDon't miss the guidelines,ā writeā¦ Review the guidelines thoroughly.
Instead of āDon't forget to proofread,ā writeā¦ Make sure to proofread.
And you know, even ābutā has a negative connotation. It was pointed out in a book, and itās definitely true. Most phrases/sentences that start with ābutā have something negative.
āOh, you did great, butā¦ā
āI glad you reached on such short notice, butā¦ā
āWe have your chocolate cake ready, butā¦ā
So, in my sentence above, I replaced BUT with NOW. After all, my sentence was in no way negative.
You can see one such live work on my clientās EFD FAQs. I replaced any hard āNoā with a subtle reasoning.
Only the answer to āDo I need any experience for the training?ā is a straightaway No. That No is good news for someone who wants to enrol. Right?
These are teeny-weeny things you learn with work; here and there. In my case, through a client.
By the way, thereās absolutely no harm in saying No. Not at all.
Butā¦ Yes, butā¦ something negative is coming. Butā¦ if your audience sees too many āNoā to their objections, they might leave without paying (for example, in FAQs). Do you want that?
Just some psychology.
Some self-praise doesnāt harm, right?
As a freelancer, I learnt that early. You know, youāre alone in the market. If you canāt show yourself off, no oneās going to do it for you.
While doing so, you should keep in mind that you donāt show off.
Now, stop screaming out loud: Abhijeet is using negatives. Sometimes, you need to. Those -nāt phrases create a better impact than their positive alternatives.
So, you can use negatives, of course. Judiciously, though. Just another psychological tip.
Being observant is the key.
While we are on observationā¦ There was this newsletter last week that I read. I like reading most of their newsletters. This last one particularly resonated with me. Canāt re why.
And I wanted to reply to that newsletter. And it was my first time interacting with them.
Unfortunately, the email address it came from was a ācorporateā one. And inside no newsletter (that I could recall) was a mention that the replies are personally seen and replied.
And guess what! I didnāt feel like writing back.
I liked Warikoo's newsletter in that sense. In each newsletter, he mentioned that he checks them all. That mention itself made me reply to a few of his newsletters. Doesnāt matter if he saw them or not.
So, Iām making a note of it, tooā¦ for my newsletter. To ask for replies, whether you do or not.
Seeā¦ Observation can be a major source of ideas. Ideas to make tiny unnoticeable changes that might make a lot of difference.
Itās already 22.15 now. Took me three hours today.
Then, it wasnāt just the newsletter that I finished writing. In these three hours, I completed one article, sprinkled a few words on another, and researched for another one.
Had dinner, trimmed my beard, and did a few other clerical tasks
Like a true ADHDian.
Now, let me know do you like reading my mails?
Bidding adieu.
Whether you reply or notā¦ enjoy your day. Live long and prosper.
PSā¦ Iām offering a new service: Book Reviewer for Hire. Feel free to recommend me to authors and publishers. Thank you!
