Heyaa Bee
By the time I sent the last newsletter, it was time to do my April review. And it was definitely a slow month. Much of my time went into fine-tuning Be a Product That Grows. Editing, formatting and publishing it.
And if not working on a client project apart from the book, you’d have found me procrastinating.
I did read books, though. A lot by my standards. 7 books in the month… reaching half of my 2025 reading goal already. 26 out of 50. With plenty of time to spare.
OK, it’s Sunday. 19.43… and I’m currently listening to…
… from a random playlist.
Actually, most of the time, I haven’t been playing any song. Only sometimes, when I got too fidgety, did I try something to help me focus. On the song… and then, on the task at hand.
But I realised that one reason I wasn’t listening to anything was the lack of earphones. I have a Bluetooth neckband, actually. However, after a year of using it, I started craving the wired experience.
So, I bought a USB-C audio jack cable. Oh, the joy of listening on wired earphones.
I also ordered a WiFi extender today. And it was a pleasant experience to have it delivered in two days. Amazon has started offering 2-day delivery here only a few months ago. And I was sure it’s only for popular mobiles and laptops, and their accessories.
Their nearest warehouse is now 200 km away. Earlier, most of my orders were shipped from Delhi NCR or Kolkata. Both 900-1000 kms away, taking a min of 3 days.
It seems they might even start overnight delivery by next year. Flipkart already does so here, but only for selected items.
Not a necessity, but a good thing to have.
In the same way, a USB-C cable for earphones. I don’t have words to explain how it feels.
Probably it’s just a millennial thing, but I haven’t ever really been comfortable using wireless earphones. Haven’t even tried earbuds.
Maybe it’s just nostalgia. Trying to stay connected with the younger self.
Doesn’t matter how much I ignore, I’m getting old. I’ve grown some greying strands of hair already, you know. Visible only with close inspection, but there are.
Should I start behaving like an adult now? Talking about politics and investment, or religion and spirituality, maybe?
I can definitely start exploring philosophy again. A book I’m ghostwriting for a client is a philosophical one, based on real-life experience. Maybe I can write something like that.
Ahh, another book idea!
Just hoping that someday I can turn all the ideas into proper books. It’s just like hoping that I can read all the books that I want to read… in my current lifetime.
You know, I’ve over 500 books marked on Goodreads that I want to read.
Around 70% of them are probably fiction. The rest are non-fiction. Some business, some marketing, some biography. Haven’t checked recently, but that’s pretty much how my list looks.
This month, I’ve at least six books to read and review. One’s already up, so that still leaves me with five.
This affair with indie authors introduced me to quite a few new things. There are tropes (common themes in a book) and trigger warnings (themes that may induce some negative physical/mental reactions).
Since I had mostly been reading traditionally published books until last year, these seemed alien concepts. Also, people weren’t really this concerned about their mental health 5 or so years ago.
But now apparently, as a self-published author, you need to pay attention to these. Readers can be critical when it comes to not-so-popular writers, right?
I wonder what kind of trigger warnings I should be adding to my horror books. Future horror books I mean. I should probably have them beta read by multiple people to pinpoint sensitive topics.
In the future that would be. My current problem is to get through my TBR fast.
See you next week.
Bidding adieu. Enjoy your day. Live long and prosper.
